The key to a successful refraction statics solution is the first arrival picking.  With a combination of automatic picking, position error estimate, delay time stack trace picker and pick editing traces, first arrival picks are defined.   Geometry quality control is evaluated by using first arrival pick times and estimated refractor velocity to produce a Pick Position Error for each shot.   When the Pick Position Errors are plotted on a map of the survey misplaced shots or receivers are easily detected.  After reviewing the pick times the shot geometry may be updated to reflect the correct position or the shot flagged to be omitted.

The Seismic Studio approach is flexible in development of the work flow and adaptable depending upon the first break quality.  The shift-click option provides access to view the pick trace in shot, receiver or CDP domain allowing for quick confirmation of the pick position.  Diagnostic displays include histograms, scale based contour maps, position error vectors and more.

A choice of Gauss-Seidel or Tomography refraction static solutions may be selected.  Final source and receiver statics and geometry update tables are output as text files which may be imported by Promax to update the geometry spreadsheet.
